DALI converters are the best choice to control LED luminaires. We offer a large selection of DALI drivers to our customers to run your LEDs perfectly.
Very slim high voltage LED driver 60W, dimmable via DALI, 1..10V and Push; constant currents: 250, 350, 400, 450, 500, 550, 600, 700mA
Why is the demand of DALI increasing with the introduction of LED technology again? The answer is simple. An electronic ballast is required to dim LED lights. Beside 1-10V and button dimming, DALI converters have become more and more established.
Conventional lights have been equipped with illuminants like light bulbs, halogen lamps or energy-saving lamps or tube. Even though the later ones were not well suited for dimming, customary wall dimmers could be used with phase angle control via Triac or MOSFET. They have been developed during the age of light bulbs and were perfectly suited to adjust brightness.
Operating LEDs require constant current that prevents an overload of the LED. This special electronic device needs 230 V mains voltage primarily, but can’t really work with the „hidden“ AC sinus of the dimmer.
If you try it nevertheless, you will observe the following effect, depending on the dimmer:
Correct. That can easily be done e.g. with LED Drivers DALI. These include a LED driver that was developed for operation with wall dimmers. Especially the dimmable TCI Jolly MD should be mentioned here. Depending on the Jumper Setting, it can be dimmed via 1-10V or button mode as well as a phase mode. The manufacturer managed to ensure broad compatibility.
DALI as a control bus to transmit diverse signals from central to all connected lights as „circular command“ or separately addressable, allows comfortable control of the lights. Of course this also includes complete dimming of brightness throughout the whole usual range.
Besides the dimming function, the control of LED lights via DALI also allows the option to centrally program each light and to order them in several groups. In this way, planning of circuits for different light switches is not necessary anymore. This can be adjusted to the respective situation at subsequently and at any time. Examples are open-plan offices and warehouses where lighting often has to be adjusted for organisational reasons.
If a building is newly installed, it is recommendable to plan lighting installations with DALI bus from the beginning. Five-wire cables instead of triple cored are used for this. It doesn't matter what is connected to them and if they are fully used. A DALI bus provides full flexibility. The „slow“ data stream allows „chaotic“ cable routing. This means you don't have to pay attention to star, circle or chain connections. It can be identically connected to 230V wiring and even the polarity of the DALI wirings doesn't play a role.
Noone want's to open all walls in a beautiful old villa and install new wirings after changing to LED with DALI? The finery cabling is neither desired. Therefore EnOcean Wireless solutions allow a fast and comfortable installation without a lot of additional wirings from light switches to LED lights over a gateway with an integrated DALI converter.
A popular method is analogue control via a 1-10V potentiometer. The ballast unit in the luminaire gets voltage between 1V and 10V via a special control input and regulates the brightness of the illuminant. This 1-10V input of the electronic ballast is potential-free. There is a difference between active and passive connections.
If just an electronic ballast with 1-10V intersection is available, so-called DALI 1-10V interfaces can be used. In this way, an existing electronic ballast is extended to a DALI electronic ballast.
DALI is attractive again. The demand for DALI converters, especially the DALI USB adapter as connecting part between LED lights and the computer with DALI-Master-PC software is constantly growing. If you want to do more with your lights than just turn it on and off, DALI is the standard solution for today.
