Two Control Modules for Different Installation Scenarios

The wDALI-2 BT5 Switch Cross is a battery-powered 4-button remote control (82 × 82 × 8.5 mm, IP40) for flexible wall mounting without a power supply. The wDALI-2 BT5 MC is a push-button coupler with 4 potential-free inputs for existing push buttons and flush-mounted installation (59 × 33 × 15 mm, IP20), also battery-powered. Both modules support individual button configuration and work seamlessly with the receiver.

MSC Receiver with IEC62386 Compliance and DALI-2 Instance Mode

The wDALI-2 BT5 MSC Receiver (59 × 33 × 15 mm, IP20, protection class II) is mounted in the flush-mounted box and connected to the DALI bus. The DALI voltage range 9.5–22.5 V dc (IEC62386) covers all common DALI power supplies. Typical current consumption: 8.5 mA at 16.5 V, 9 mA at 22.5 V. Double DALI terminals (DA) enable convenient looping through. The receiver supports DALI-2 instance mode with event messages for central control systems.

Comprehensive Configuration and Switching Functions

Each button offers 13 different functions (BF0–BF13): dimming, switching, scene recall as well as toggle and staircase functions. Switching behaviour can be set to short button press (minimum 40 ms) or long button press (configurable 200–5100 ms). The power-up function is individually configurable. Configuration is conveniently carried out via the DALI Cockpit software and Lunatone DALI interface.

Robust Connection Reliability Through Multi-Master Capability

Several receivers can be installed in parallel in one DALI circuit to create redundancy and higher availability. A single control device can be paired with several receivers and thus control several DALI circuits in parallel. This architecture is particularly suitable for critical lighting applications with high availability requirements.

Typical Applications

Practical scenario 1: office building with several lighting zones – a Switch Cross remote control controls up to 60 paired luminaire groups via one receiver, without having to lay new power cables. Practical scenario 2: event location with colour-controlled DALI LEDs – several MC push-button couplers at the control desk enable parallel DT8 colour and temperature control of all scenes; a separate receiver with multi-master function secures the connection.

The wDALI-2 BT5 receiver meets the following standards: DALI EN 62386-101, EMC EN 61547, EN 50015 / IEC CISPR 15, electrical safety EN 61347-2-11 and EN 61347-1. Protection class II (installation as intended in a flush-mounted box). Operating temperature range -20 °C to +60 °C, storage temperature -20 °C to +75 °C. Relative humidity 15–90 % non-condensing. Maximum rated temperature tc: 75 °C.
