PI-LED Technology: Daylight Indoors

The K-Horizon uses patented PI-LED technology with three individually controlled channels. This enables a spectral quality that comes close to natural sunlight – from early morning light (1,800 K) to sky blue (16,000 K). Unlike conventional LED solutions, the light quality adapts to the natural daylight curve, which promotes concentration, vitality and the biological stability of the user. Automatic control along the Planckian curve ensures constant energy efficiency across the entire colour temperature range.

Circadian Lighting Technology and Melanopic Effect Factor

The melanopic effect factor (alpha_smel) describes the biological effect of light on the human 24-hour rhythm. Higher alpha_smel values during the day minimise melatonin release – promoting alertness and performance. In the evening, lower values reduce the effect factor and support natural tiredness. For lighting design, KITEO recommends DIN SPEC 5031-100, which takes this biological approach into account.

UGR < 19: Glare-Free Screen Work

The K-Horizon with micro-prism direct diffuser achieves a UGR value below 19 – a critical standard for screen workstations according to DIN EN 12464-1. The grid optics prevent direct glare from the LED module and reflected glare on monitors. This demonstrably reduces eye strain, headaches and digital fatigue during long periods of screen work.

Control and Integration into Building Management Systems

The K-Horizon is equipped with ZigBee 3.0 or DALI DT8 and enables seamless integration into modern smart building systems. ZigBee offers wireless networking with 1–100 % dimming; DALI DT8 additionally supports full colour temperature and RGB control. Over-the-bus updates enable firmware updates without replacing hardware. Casambi compatibility is optionally available on request.

Continuous Lines of Light and Modular Configuration

Various lengths are available. Corner pieces with a side length of 603 mm are available on request, as are tailor-made solutions for linear or area lighting tasks. The modular architecture enables flexible room planning without redesigning the basic installation.
