Biologically Effective Lighting with Melanopic Effect Factor

The PI-LED module allows the melanopic effect factor (alpha_smel) to be adjusted across the entire colour temperature range from 1,800 K to 16,000 K. The effect factor varies from 0.247 (at 1,800 K for evening lighting) to 1.202 (at 16,000 K for active daytime lighting). This option of circadian light control in accordance with DIN SPEC 5031-100 makes it possible to support the natural biorhythm: higher colour temperatures and melanopic values promote alertness during the day, lower values promote melatonin release in the evening.

Secure Network Management with DALI 2 and ZigBee 3.0

The luminaire is equipped with DALI DT8 registration and ZigBee 3.0 connectivity and supports over-the-bus updates (OTA) without physical replacement. This means: firmware updates, parameter corrections and new control logic are installed wirelessly. The combination with Modular Dimming and the DALI 2 standard also enables seamless integration into existing smart building systems – from simple 1–10 V dimmers to complex lighting management platforms.

Optimised Grid Louvre with Direct Micro-Prism Against Glare

The grid louvre is manufactured using the direct micro-prism process (MP-DI) and ensures a UGR value below 19. This means: the direct radiation of the luminaire is fanned out and diffused by the grid geometry without causing light losses. The shielding direction is optimised for the size of the human field of view, so that even at a lateral viewing angle no disturbing

With a service life of 50,000 operating hours (L80/B10 criterion) at 25 °C ambient temperature and a dimming range of 1–100 %, conventional lamp replacements are eliminated entirely – the LED module is not replaceable and is permanently integrated into the luminaire. With average office use (8 h/day), this means an operating time of over 17 years. The total cost calculation based on TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) takes into account energy consumption (26.5 W), maintenance costs (close to zero) and disposal as electronic waste.

K-Horizon UGR+Grid is installed with DALI control in 5 luminaires of 1,129 mm each, integrated into the existing smart building management system. During the day, the lighting runs at 5,500 K (high melanopic effect factor 0.786) for activity and concentration; from 5 p.m., the colour temperature drops to 3,000 K (effect factor 0.470) for stress-reducing lighting. Safety Information, Certificates & Warranty

Protection class I (protective-contact design, single-phase 230 VAC / 50-60 Hz). Ingress protection IP 20 (for indoor use). Conformity with European safety standards (CE compliant). RoHS compliant. The luminaire contains no replaceable lamps and must be disposed of as electronic waste after its service life. Permissible operating temperature 10 °C to 35 °C. Circuit breaker types B13/B16 or C13/C16 depending on the number of luminaires connected in parallel (max. 17 luminaires with C16). Installation work must only be carried out when de-energised and exclusively by trained specialist personnel. After installation: check that the inner profile and the cover are correctly seated. For cleaning, use only a soft, damp cloth – no solvents.
