PI-LED: Patented Technology for Spectral Quality Without Shift

The globally patented PI-LED uses three individually controlled colour channels that are automatically driven along the Planckian curve. This produces a complete, sunlight-like spectrum from 1,800 K (morning red) to 16,000 K (sky blue) – without colour tolerances or spectral offset. The continuous spectrum with CRI > 90 ensures authentic colour rendering even at extreme colour temperatures, as conventional LED colour mixing cannot achieve.

Melanopic Effectiveness and Circadian Light Hygiene

The data sheet contains melanopic factors (alpha-Smel) for every available colour temperature. Light of 6,500–10,000 K with a high alpha-Smel in the morning suppresses melatonin and promotes alertness; warm light (2,000–3,000 K) with a low alpha-Smel set in the evening favours natural melatonin release. In accordance with DIN SPEC 5031-100, PI-LED thus enables biologically effective lighting that supports the natural human daily rhythm – measurably improved sleep and concentration.

UGR Value < 19: Glare Protection in Screen Environments

A value below 19 places the unified glare rating (UGR) well below the critical threshold of 22. The micro-prism optics (MP-DI) diffuse the direct light homogeneously and deflect glare effects. This is particularly decisive in the office: high UGR values (> 22) demonstrably lead to eye fatigue, headaches and reduced work performance – K-Horizon eliminates this risk through design optimisation.

Intelligent Control: DALI DT8 and ZigBee 3.0

DALI DT8 enables manufacturer-independent colour temperature and brightness control; over-the-bus updates update firmware without physical access. ZigBee 3.0 integrates into mesh networks and allows wireless programming of daily scenes. Casambi control (on request) extends networking to mobile apps. A well-thought-out system for larger projects: central or distributed lighting design, automation according to daytime/occupancy and feedback from individual luminaires without separate control hardware. Service Life and Freedom from Maintenance

L80/B10 50,000 h means that at least 90 % of the luminaires still deliver at least 80 % of their initial luminous intensity after 50,000 operating hours – roughly 15–20 years of continuous operation (8 h/day). The permanently integrated LED module is not replaceable; the entire luminaire is disposed of as electronic waste at the end of its life. This is not a disadvantage but a system advantage: zero-maintenance design, no lamp costs, reliable calculation for life-cycle cost calculation in facility management.

Energy Efficiency Class F and Current Consumption Planning Table

With 20.4 W at 1,950 lm luminous flux, K-Horizon achieves a high luminous efficacy (approx. 95 lm/W geometrically). Energy efficiency class F is standard for this product type. The data sheet contains breaker sizing tables (type B13, B16, C13, C16): e.g. max. 17 luminaires possible on C16. This provides planning certainty for electricians when building the distribution board.

Operating voltage 230 VAC / 50–60 Hz single-phase. Permissible operating temperature 10–35 °C. LED module not replaceable – dispose of as electronic waste after end of service life. Installation work must only be carried out when de-energised and by trained specialist personnel; observe applicable installation and accident prevention regulations. Clean with a damp cloth, no solvents. Luminaire not suitable for outdoor mounting. Photometric and electrical data are subject to ±15 % tolerances.
