USB interface DALI or DALI-2 for communication between PC and the modules in the DALI lighting system

The USB DALI is a PC USB interface module for DALI systems to program and control them.

With this interface, DALI installations and control gear can be addressed, programmed and of course also controlled from a PC using the installation software "DALI Cockpit PC Software". The DALI USB is available in 8 different versions: with strain relief, for DIN rail (with or without flash memory), for flush-mounted box (with or without integrated 30mA bus power supply) and as DALI-2 USB Professional for flush-mounted box and DIN rail.

In addition, DALI-2 versions are available. The DALI-2 USB 30mA is a compact device with integrated 30mA bus power supply, which supports standard DALI, DALI-2 and various extended DALI protocols.

Brand new: The DALI-2 USB Professional is the interface for communication between PC programs and the modules on the DALI bus with measurement capability for testing the DALI system. It is available in two designs: for flush-mounted box (24138246-30-DO) and for DIN rail (24138246-30-HS). Both versions have an integrated switchable bus power supply (30mA), a USB-C connection and extended DALI monitor functions. A USB C – USB C cable is included in the scope of delivery.

Note on the bus power supply: The maximum bus power supply must not exceed 250mA. If an external bus power supply already delivers 250mA, the 30mA of the DALI USB device should not be activated. With the bus power supply of the DALI-2 USB Professional switched off, an alternative DALI bus power supply is required.

Measurement Function and Monitor of the DALI-2 USB Professional

• DALI Bus Status: Summary of all measurements as a traffic light (red for errors, yellow for warnings, otherwise green)
• DALI Bus Utilisation: Display as current value, average of the last minute and average of the entire connection time; in a running multi-master system, it is recommended to keep the bus utilisation below 75% over longer periods
• DALI Bus Voltage: Current bus voltage with min and max value since the start of recording or since the last reset
• DALI Bus Signal Integrity: Quality of the transmitted DALI frames; errors indicate that a DALI device does not follow the DALI-2 timing rules
• DALI Bus Current: Measurement of the maximum current and the approximate available current reserve via test buttons
• DALI Monitor: Commands outside the DALI-2 specification are marked in red (high level <= 9.5 V, low level >= 6.5 V, timing deviation > 55 µs, idle time <= 2.4 ms)
